We are excited to announce a curated educational journey for immersive, hands-on learning about America!  This week-long journey will cover the most impactful locations in and around New York City. Homeschoolers ages 10-18 are welcome to apply to attend. After completing this journey, parents may assign educational credit in the topics of American History, American Literature, American Art & Architecture, and/or American Social Studies. Overview:

Experiencing America: New York   

A hands-on, immersive and experiential week-long learning journey for junior high and high school students presented by Masterpoint.   This class presents American History, American Literature, and American Art, Architecture & Culture in a real and practical way by physically visiting the locations where history took place. On the tour students will be taken to historically significant locations and explore museums pertaining to the events.   Participation in this tour is suggested for high school students and mature middle school students. This is an activity packed trip that will explore the American Experience thematically. Following the trip the students will be able to identify the major aspects of American History, Culture, Attitude, and Innovation that has become the essence of American Citizenship.

Itinerary: Students will explore New York, NY and surrounding areas.    

Day 1: Niagara Falls State Park 

Day 2: American Idealism: NY Sights Walking Tour (Wall St., NYSE, Ground Zero, 5 Points, China Town, Little Italy, City Hall, Woolworth Building, Rockefeller Centre, Flatiron Building, Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, 5th Ave, Times Square, NY Public Library, Chrysler Building, Central Park, NBC Studios, Radio City Music Hall, Museum of Modern Art, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Grand Central Station, Carnegie Hall, The Plaza Hotel), Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum. 

Day 3: American Grief: 9/11 Memorial & Museum, NYC Slavery and Underground Railroad Museum, American Museum of Natural History. 

Day 4: American Immigration: Statue of Liberty National Monument, Ellis Island Museum, Clipper City Tall Sailing Ship of Harbor. 

Day 5: American Architecture: Central Park Bike Tour, Empire State Building, The Edge, Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Catacombs by Candlelight. 

Day 6: American Art: New York Sketching Art, Guggenheim Museum, Hamilton (The Musical). 

Day 7: American Faith Expression: Harlem Gospel Tour
